Philippine Airlines (PAL) has selected IBS Software's cloud-based iCargo platform to replace its current cargo system, with the implementation set to extend across both its domestic and international cargo operations.
According to IBS Software, the deployment will support PAL's modernisation programme and cover the carrier's full range of business functions. Alongside domestic cargo movements, iCargo is intended to handle international requirements such as customs reporting, duties and taxes settlement and regulatory compliance.
The vendor said the platform already serves carriers with this same combination of demands, providing the flexibility and scale needed to manage domestic and international flows together. For PAL, the transition is meant to address operational requirements including system performance and data analytics.
IBS Software said iCargo will provide capabilities aimed at faster shipment processing, greater reliability and end-to-end shipment visibility, while reducing manual intervention in cargo processes.
Jason Siy, vice president for cargo business at Philippine Airlines, described the initiative as an important step in the modernisation of the airline's cargo business. He said PAL needs a system that increases visibility and improves operational efficiency as it grows across its domestic and international network, adding that the carrier views iCargo as a key enabler of its long-term cargo transformation strategy and of its ambition to build a stronger cargo business.
